The moon is fading to darkness in the sign of the Water Bearer – Aquarius.
Aquarius is the sign of the humanitarian, innovation and the future. It is ruled by Uranus. Uranus brings electrifying consciousness, the flash of clarity and the vision of how things could be. But the Moon waning in this sign causes us to retreat a little – we detach our emotional expression from others, we are more insulated – and we feel more secure that way right now.
The New Moon this lunar month was in Aquarius. We are now at the closing point of this cycle before the New Moon cycle in Pisces commences on March 2. Whatever we put forth on January 31 we now call back into ourselves. Aquarius is the sign of investigation and experimentation; it could be that you ventured outside of your comfort zone (Aquas live there permanently). Having experienced that you now draw that knowledge back into yourself (deciding never to do it again?).
We may have achieved our goals or other things; Uranian, startling things; changed our trajectory unexpectedly.
The Mercury Retrograde period (and here, too) is also finishing up in the sign of Aquarius. Mercury represents communication and thought. With Mercury stationary retrograde (about to turn forward) and the Moon waning in Aquarius too, our mind and instinctive feelings react to each other; our thoughts and feelings are interfering. Reason moves our senses and our instinctive reactions – for good or ill – shape our thoughts and speech. Some may even have a sense that some idea or news is about to come ‘out of the blue’. (One of the themes of Uranus, that planet that rules Aqua is ‘Out of the Blue’). This often happens when Mercury goes direct again, what has stalled has built up momentum and bursts forth – we finally get that letter or email we were waiting for. But for now, the message is hidden or inverted; our instinct (Moon) senses it, Mercury stationery retrograde is musing over it. We’re not sure what we think or feel about it all. So don’t.
Retreat; read and muse, research and think up schemes until things get a little clearer and we head into the next New Moon Phase (March 2). Reflect on what you want to seed for the next lunar month, assess what has passed. Use these symbol-cycles to construct meaning as you travel on spaceship Earth, hurtling through space here in the boondocks of the Milky Way Galaxy.
Are you a Lunar Aquarian? This means your emotions are directed towards the whole of humanity, you dream big for mankind and can direct energy to actually changing things. That’s where you feel most secure; it’s your instinctive self – the complement to your Sun sign, and the secret to unlocking your potential. It’s a little difficult for you to understand other’s needs on an intimate level; you are not great with the sentimental connection. Independence is important but so is friendship – it must be equal and you must share common values. Social movements inspire you, not scenes of domesticity. Unless you believe domesticity is actually a kind of social revolution that can both free us from suffering and bring progress.
Aquarian Moon folk are affable and caring, but can seem aloof because they don’t show their attachment in the approved syrupy manner. They have their own stuff going on and are unlikely to be co-dependent. If you live with or love an Aqua Moon person don’t expect him to write you intimate love notes (if he does, he will compare your relationship to broader human themes we all share). He is a wonderful friend and faithful in his friendship. He is usually friends with all his exes. Don’t try and coddle an Aquarian leave him to be, do friend things, not romantic stuff. It’s not his style. His romantic side is private, maybe it doesn’t exist who knows? You might discover it one day or you may learn to read his Alien Aquarian manner; like the day he makes you an up-cycled bedside table scrounged from an old broom stick cut into 4 legs, cast-off floor boards and recycled nails he scrounged from the side of the road in one of his lone rambles. You can’t copy that from someone’s schmaltzy Facebook post.
If your child has an Aqua Moon she is generally great with her friends and feels most comfortable socialising. Her emotions are optimistic and generally well controlled – unless you try to control her or curb her freedom without giving her a sound reason (one she can understand). Let her explore unusual ideas, encourage inventiveness and creative problem solving. Her feelings don’t burst out in storms, but it doesn’t mean she doesn’t feel – she tends to intellectualise. Help her learn to bring those feelings into her body – exploring her own responses to anger, anxiety, joy and sadness – then bring her back to these when you observe her struggling with emotional expression (I mean, when you are struggling with her emotional expression!). Aquarius sees everything as a concept and lives in tomorrow. But emotions need to be experienced now in order to help us grow and be healthy, happy people. Enjoy her weird and wonderful ideas and her unique way of expressing her connection to you. To feel secure she needs interesting and novel experiences and time to reflect upon them quietly.
